PSG

Chelsea and Manchester United target up close and personal

Apart from Ronaldo and the peerless Messi – who again showed his virtuosity against PSG in the Champions League on Wednesday – there are very few players in world football who are currently making waves like Radamel Falcao. Chelsea have been strongly linked with the player since well before he took them to the cleaners in the UEFA Super Cup at the start of the season. Now Manchester United have reportedly come in for the player known as ‘El Tigre’ – I won’t patronise you with a translation.

Manchester United were yesterday reported to have made a down payment on the player in order to steal a march on what will surely be fierce competition for his signature.

Of course, he may not end up at either Manchester United or Chelsea. PSG are known to be looking for a striker to play alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic and they may well blow everyone else out of the water to sign the player, in the same way as they did with Lucas Moura in the summer.

So what is so special about Falcao? Well, when you look at the vid below you will see that there is very little that isn’t special about him. At 27 he’s already older than Messi and Ronnie but, in any cost benefit analysis by clubs, he is worth every penny. Because he guarantees goals. 46 in 60 for Atletico Madrid, 51 in 61 for his previous club Porto and 16 in 43 for Colombia. He is absolutely deadly from any position and has the confidence to have a go regardless of the difficulty level.

Falcao is a quick and energetic player constantly on the move – he’s a nightmare for defenders to have to pick up. He’s strong, has a great first touch and, to top it all off, he’s got an eye for the spectacular as proven amply by this vid. Whatever happens this summer Falcao will passed around the tabloids like a badly rolled joint until his footballing future is confirmed.
