Tottenham are having a good season. Punctuated by the weekly brilliance of Mr. Bale, Spurs are just about fending off challengers to their 3rd position in the title race, while also retaining hope of silverware in the form of The Europa League.
But AVB wants mare for his Tottenham and he’s prepared to pay big bucks in the summer, according to reports.
Most onlookers agree that Tottenham need to bolster their striking options. Emmanuel Adebayor has been disappointing this term, which leaves Jermaine Defoe to carry most of the goal threat.
Consequently, strikers are being linked thick and fast with Tottenham. Today it’s Aston Villa’s man-mountain Christian Benteke. The Star suggests that the Belgian forward, who has scored 18 goals in a relegation threatened team, could be prised away for £15m in the summer. We think that, with the interest that the player is likely to attract, this figure could rise further and Tottenham will have to move fast if they want to beat off the competition.
Meanwhile, Sky Sports today revisits the speculation linking Leandro Damiao with a move to White Hart Lane. Rumours abounded last summer that AVB was keen on the Brazilian and Tottenham may well re-kindle their interest in the summer months. The player is quoted as saying.
“I hope to play in Europe one day, it’s a dream, but I am also in no hurry to leave. I have no reason to do anything crazy and leave quickly.
“I have had many chances to leave, but I have stayed. I want (any transfer) to be good for Internacional too.”
