The pick of the matches this weekend is Sunday’s game between fierce local rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal at White Hart Lane. Football fans up and down the land will be eagerly anticipating the latest instalment of The North London Derby, as excitement is virtually guaranteed with this being the highest scoring fixture in Premier League history. The North London Derby is also one of the most unpredictable of all Premier League encounters, particularly at White Hart Lane, where the last 5 games between the North London giants have seen Tottenham win 2, Arsenal 1, with 2 ending in draws.
This game promises to be a particularly enthralling affair with both clubs in the running for a top 4 finish and the resulting Champions League qualification spot for next season.
Tottenham Hotspur
Spurs, who are currently 3rd in the League, 2 places and 4 points ahead of their eternal rivals Arsenal have been in inspired form of late. Manager Villas Boas has been adept at getting the most out of the talented players at his disposal and the inconsistent form of last autumn are now but a distant memory. Not only are Tottenham the only side other than Manchester United not to have lost a League game in 2013 but in Gareth Bale they have arguably the best player in The Premier League. The Welshman has scored 19 goals in all competitions this season and 8 in his last 6.
Tottenham Win – William Hill 5/4
Arsenal have had a torrid season to date, recent losses at home to Blackburn in the FA Cup and the 3:1 drubbing in the 1st leg of the Champions League game against Bayern Munich being recent low points. The Gunners have fared somewhat better in the League recently and though they have lost 2 games so far this year, they were against Premier League heavyweights, Manchester City and Chelsea. Manager Arsene Wenger remains confident, at least publicly, claiming that his team can still finish 2nd in the League this season. Many would no doubt consider this wishful thinking as even a top 4 finish appears in serious jeopardy at present. A win at resurgent rivals Tottenham however would be a signal of intent that Arsenal are not ready to relinquish their position at Europe’s top table just yet.

Would love to see the Goons fall out of the Champions league places, but being the lucky Bas***ds they are its looks as though Chavski have pressed the self destruct button that will allow Arsenal forth place
