Chelsea are usually near the front of the queue when it comes to transfer window deals. Having an owner with Roman’s cash stash certainly has its benefits.
But they have been fairly quiet in this window having only signed Demba Ba in January. Perhaps Abramovich is keeping his gunpowder dry until a permanent manager comes in.
There are reports however that two deals could be in the offing
Jack Butland has been heavily linked with Chelsea over the last few days and soccersweep understands that Sky Sports understands that Birmingham City understand that Chelsea understand that Butland is available. Chelsea fans don’t seem to have a lot of faith in Ross Turnbull so a new understudy is needed for Peter Cech. But the BBC understands that Butland will turn down any approach as he wants to play regularly.
Other news outlets are suggesting that The Blues are interested in taking Brazil star Paulinho from Corinthians, although The Metro says that the Chelsea top brass aren’t prepared to spend much more cash this window.
