Tottenham: 5 feasible striker signings

With Jermaine Defoe suffering from a pelvic problem and Adebayor away with Togo, Tottenham looked all gums and no teeth in the cup at the weekend.

If the murmurs are to be believed then Tottenham aren’t planning to spend much in the window and will instead wait until the summer to do their business. Of course Tottenham still have great attacking thrust in the shape of Bale, Lennon, Dembele and Dempsey but noone would be particularly surprised if AVB had a small punt on another forward before the window closes. What about this lot? They are all potentially available and who wouldn’t want to play for Tottenham?

Darren Bent – call me crazy. You wouldn’t be the first. Or the second. But Bent, despite getting some pitch minutes of late, clearly isn’t preferred by the misunderstood genius/stupendously stubborn Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert. Few would call Bent their favourite striker but he scores goals. He even scored goals at Tottenham. Worth a punt? Surely he would bite the beautifully manicured hand off AVB if offered a chance to return.

Ricky Lambert – Call me crazier. Lambert lacks a little pace but, again, he scores goals. Southampton would be loathe to let their leading light leave but it’s turmoil down on the south coast right now and AVB might want to take advantage.

Christian Benteke – soccersweep really rates this lad. Villa fans would be loathe to lose the Belgian but, if their dire form continues, they might have to face up to that reality sooner than they think. The Daily Mail yesterday covered all bases by suggesting that pretty much every Prem club wants this bully of a striker and we think he would be gem of a signing for Spurs.

Mario Balotelli – Sure he’s unruly but he just doesn’t like playing second fiddle. The talent is there if anyone is bonkers enough to try and massage it out of the wonga wielding, firework frowing Italian. Manchester City are desperate to get rid and someone will either profit heavily or send their club into meltdown by bringing Mario in. Would I buy him? No. All the paracetamol in the world wouldn’t cure that headache.

Romelu Lukaku – Ok, Chelsea may well want their excellent on loan striker back at the end of the season, but their reluctance to bring him back in January, despite a striker shortage at The Bridge might imply that Chelsea aren’t that hot on him. Surely it’s worth popping the question at least?

There you go AVB. Striker problems sorted.

there is only one on that list worth a punt and thats Benteke we should push for Hooper or Negredo they are the best 3 options that are worth looking at but who ever it is we HAVE to bring in a striker just look at yesterday we had nothing up front to fight a championship side never mind our rivals for 4th COYS

No doubt you are crazy…we have already tried Bent and while he will score a few goals, his hold-up play is even worse than Defoe…Ricky Lambert is a decent player and could be a short term solution, but would easily cost 8 million upwards and it would be crazy to spend that kind of money for a 31 year old player, who we would look to replace again in the summer…Benteke has already played for 2 clubs, so is not allowed to play for any other teams until the summer…Ballotelli jus CRAZY…Would take a punt on Lukaku, but can’t see Chelsea being ready to sell him, and if the were can’t see them selling him to us

Joke of a list and waste of time reading. Levy wont pay anything for Bent after the amount he lost on him first time. Balotelli wont come as levy wont pay anywhere near his wages not even on loan. Lambert wont be allowed to leave in january by southampton as its too high a risk to sell and then get relegated. Benteke can’t sign for us in January as he had played for 2 clubs this season and finally chelski won’t sell anyone to spurs at the risk of us finishing above them in the league.
