Dimitar Berbatov – The mercurial Bulgarian had something to prove after being deemed surplus to requirements at Manchester United and he has not disappointed since joining former manager Martin Jol at Fulham last summer. Berbatov has been at his inspired best with his prowess in leading the line, exquisite first touch and natural goal scoring ability evident in abundance.
Michu – Michael Laudrup may well have pulled off the signing of the year in paying Rayo Vallecano £2m for the versatile and experienced Michu. The Spaniard has been terrorising Premier League defences all season and is currently the league’s top scorer with twelve goals. If Swansea are to have a successful second half of the campaign they will need their talisman to maintain his extraordinary run of form.
Benteke – Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has waxed hyperbole about the Belgian front man of Congolese descent, who arrived from Genk in the summer in a £7m deal. With the poor form of the other forwards at the club, particularly the increasingly impotent Darren Bent, it may well prove to be Christian Benteke’s goals that secure the Midlands club Premier League football next season. It is evident to all that have witnessed the 21 year old’s rise to prominence this campaign that Aston Villa have a future star in the making.

Berbatov seems to be getting in there, but with only 5 goals to his name i still feel he has lots to do before he can be in the signing of the season. Michu has hit the ground running, and fair play to him, looks a useful player and its vital Swansea keep hold of him. Benteke looks the real deal, power, pace, good in the air & hits a ball like a sledge hammer, if he isnt playing for Man Utd in a couple of seasons i’ll eat my hat..
