Today’s back pages are, if not awash then adribble, with speculation surrounding Tottenham. If AVB stays in the job for long enough, he will reportedly go after Alan Dzagoev of CSKA and Ajax starlet Christian Eriksen, as well as rekindling his long standing interest in Joao Moutinho of Porto.
All three players have been persistently linked to The Premier League for several years but deals haven’t quite materialised. We all know about Moutinho’s quality. He would get into most sides and will surely move soon.
Eriksen has impressed me this season. He looks as if he’s maturing and affecting games on a consistent basis. As for Dzagoev, I remember him taking Manchester United apart on their own patch in a 3-3 draw a couple of years back. He’s a really tricky player with great skill, delivery and foot speed. All three would suit and improve Tottenham in soccersweep’s estimations. But surely another striker would also be something of a priority?
Tottenham host a buoyant West Ham this weekend. It’s not exactly the perfect tie for the under pressure AVB after a tiring trip to Rome. With the players at their disposal, it’s a game that Tottenham should be expected to win. But the boss can’t seem to find a convincing formula and now every game seems like a potential banana skin. Just don’t say that we didn’t warn you about AVB. Here’s our weekly pools predictor. Join in by clicking here or on one of the banners on this page and you can make a mint from a solitary squid. Good luck!
