Intense Arsenal transfer talk ahead of Schalke

With Arsenal preparing to face Schalke, in what could be the definitive game of Champions League group B, the speculation surrounding Arsenal additions and departueres has adopted great intensity.

In response to a poor defeat at Norwich at the weekend, the rags have gone chicken oriental about who might join and leave Arsenal in the winter and beyond.

Various reports suggest that Real Madrid want Atletico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao, leaving Arsenal free to complete a swoop for their long term target Karim Benzema.

The Metro reckons that Barca want Arsenal centre back Laurent Koscielny to solve their defensive problems. And Theo Walcott is now in virtually all of the gossip columns virtually all of the time.

According to many other sources, The Gunners also still want Malaga’s Isco, as Premier League clubs continue to indulge their new found penchant for smallish, technically gifted, attacking midfielders.

Idle speculation aside, Arsenal have a big game tonight at The Emirates. Win and they will will almost certainly qualify for the knockout stages. Lose or draw and a tricky return tie awaits them in Germany, which will surely decide who wins the group. Arsene Wenger has spoken of his admiration for the German side on the official Arsenal website.

“They are a team with few superstars,”……. “but they have good players in every position……..“The central defenders and full backs are dangerous going forward. Up front of course they have Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Jefferson Farfan, who we know well. They have Ibrahim Afellay and Julian Draxler too, if he plays. They are dangerous on counter-attacks and, for me, they are a very complete team.”

We think that Arsenal will have too much for Schalke in an entertaining match. The Gunners are 6/5 with William Hill to win the the game.

Wouldn’t want Benzema to be honest. Potentially a top class striker but he just refuses to play through the centre and I could imagine him really failing at Arsenal as he often does for France. IMO Adrian is a more exciting target, but whether we could get him is another question.

Arsenal have no effective forward players.
The midfield players Arteta and Carlosa cannot run only pass. Ramsey is overplayed and used wide on the right which is a joke.
I really think that enough is enough and Wenger should resign.
