Liverpool linked with young Italian

Many media outlets are today reporting that that Liverpool are looking to bolster their defence, at the earliest possible opportunity, with centre back Angelo Ogbonna. The Italian destroyer, 24, has made his way to the periphery of the Italian national team over the last year with some towering displays for Serie A club Torino.

Whilst many think that Brendan Rodgers needs to use Liveprool’s funds to strengthen the offensive areas of the team, most managers believe that successful teams are built on solid foundations and, with Jamie Carragher coming to the end of his career Liverpool are reportedly on the lookout for a real character in the defence.

Ogbonna, who has also been linked with Manchester United, is a commanding 6ft2in defender with great core strength and a good engine. But, at a reported fee of £16m, is this really how Liverpool should be spending their seemingly scarce hard earned? What do you think?
