It’s been an eventful few days for Sunderland with the excellent additions of Steven Fletcher and Adam Johnson. But it appears that Martin O’Neill isn’t finished yet.
The Daily Mail has reported today that Sunderland have shown an interest in Fulham’s 20 goal man Clint Dempsey. Dempsey, who has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, is clearly agitating for a move away from West London.
One of the most under rated players in The Premier League, Dempsey has great touch, movement and certainly knows where the goal is. What he lacks in pace he more than makes up for with football intelligence and we think that he would make a superb addition to most Premier League squads.
Whether he wants a move to the North East is not yet clear but Martin O’Neill would regard his signature as a major coup and his arrival would signal the start of a mouthwatering new look attacking line.
Thankfully the transfer window is soon to be closed so, one way or another, there will be a conclusion to this story in the next day or so.
