After a run of pure happiness and success for the Stamford Bridge outfit, their luck has dried up a little. Roman Abramovich has now officially been thwarted in his attempt to buy Battersea Power Station as a new site for the stadium.
It seemed like a fantastic option and one can only imagine now how magnificent Chelsea’s new stadium would have looked along the embankment. But The Guardian today reports that a Malaysian consortium has tied up a £400m deal for the venue. The consortium plans to turn the area into residential and office space. Yawn.
So the struggle for a larger ground continues, but we have come to realise that Mr.Abramovich usually finds a successful solution eventually so it probably won’t be too long before a new, dream location is found for the club.
