Video: Liverpool’s first summer signing?

Like a man who has long ago sworn an oath of celibacy, few have seen this one coming. Accordingly to the moderately believable Daily Express Brendan Rodgers is on the cusp of his first signing for Liverpool.

While many expected this to be Gylfi Sigurdsson or Adam Johnson, Rodgers will apparently surprise many by bringing striker Lacina Traore to the club.

The Kuban Krasnodar striker (it’s a team in Russia of course) is ostensibly being bought to bolster The Reds’ striking options and has a good scoring record for his current club with 18 goals last season, making him the third highest scorer in his league. He has only been with his current club for a year but rumour has it that he is on the move again. The Ivorian is very big (6ft8in), very strong and very left footed – much more of a Carroll than a Suarez.

So is he really the sort of player that Rodgers would be after? Have a look at the vid and I’d like your responses on my desk by lunchtime please…
