So, after shaky beginnings, the soccersweep ‘thinktank’ has finally spluttered into action. Last time out we correctly predicted 6 out of 10 outcomes and we hope to continue our upward trajectory this time around, albeit with some really tough ties to consider this weekend. Here goes.
The Barclays Premier League round 12
Norwich Vs Arsenal 12:45 AWAY WIN
On paper, Arsenal should win but Norwich have excceeded all expectations this season and continue to confound with attractive and solid team play. It’s a tough trip but The Gooners are coming to the boil, with Van Persie on fire – so we say away win.
Everton vs Wolves 15:00 HOME WIN
Everton have really struggled of late but they are still too good to be considered for relegation. Wolves, don’t have the same amount of quality and will probably be at the wrong end of the table come spring. The Toffees to triumph then.
Man City vs Newcastle 15:00 HOME WIN
Newcastle have been nothing short of sensational this season and continue to defy the odds with an unbeaten start to the season. The next ‘Invincibles’? Doubtful, and while it wouldn’t be a huge shock if Newcastle left Middle Eastlands with something, soccersweep is going for a home win.
Stoke Cty vs QPR 15:00 HOME WIN
A tough one to predict given both teams’ erratic form of late. We are going for Stoke simply because they have Premier League experience and are usually rather good at home.
Sunderland vs Fulham 15:00 DRAW
Both have had their moments this season but both lack consistency. Sunderland are improving, after buying an almost entirely new team in the summer. But Fulham are a decent side and could have enough to keep the Mackems at bay.
WBA vs Bolton 15:00 HOME WIN
After a comparatively tough run of fixtures Roy Hodgson’s side will be looking to this game with relish. The team with home advantage should out but Bolton are surely better than their start to the season suggests. Coyle is an excellent manager. But we think WBA will scrape home.
Wigan vs Blackburn 15:00 DRAW
Another one that you might as well predict with the toss of a coin. Either could have a good day. We say draw.
Swansea vs Man United 17:30 AWAY WIN
United still look somewhat juddered by the City mauling and have been grinding out results without playing convincingly. But that’s exactly why they have been so successful for the last two decades. They can play badly and win. 3 points to the Red Devils.
Chelsea vs Liverpool 1600 (Sun) HOME WIN
The Blues’ flaws were exposed by Arsenal before the international break and they will be desperate to get back on track with a solid victory over Liverpool. Serious debate about this one from within the soccersweep think tank. But the other guy is bigger than me so we have ‘agreed’ on a home win.
Tottenham vs Aston Villa 2000 (Mon) HOME WIN
With Modric knuckling down, Parker playing out of his skin, Bale scoring goals again and Adebayor offering more threat up front, the picture at White HArt Lane couldn’t be more different from three months ago. They really have the look of a side that can get back into the Champion’s League places. Serioulsy, who wouldn’t want Bale, Modric, Parker and Van Der Vaart in their midfield? Not so sure about Aaron Lennon but, overall, their midfield is up there with the best. We can’t see Villa getting anything out of this despite Spurs’ injury problems.
