On fire

After a shaky start to the season Real Madrid are once more beginning to spank everyone in Sundry. The form of Cristiano Ronaldo is frightening but that’s not the only element of the team that will be pleasing coach Carlo Ancelotti right now.

His midfielders are purring and, in Luka Modric, Real Madrid have one of the stand out performers in Europe at present. He’s now doing on weekly basis exactly what he was bought for – namely to keep the whole side ticking. Alongside him Toni Kroos is also finding his feet and will only improve as the season matures.

Further forward, after a quiet start, James Rodriguez is also starting to feel the pulse of the side now and beginning to render the loss of Angel di Maria nominal.

All in all Real Madrid are beginning to dazzle and, despite their valiant performance against an off-song Liverpool side at Anfield in the first round of fixtures, they will surely be looking at damage limitation in this one.

Real Madrid are in rude health with all their big stars fit in what is beginning to look like a very settled side. Here’s how we feel that they will line up for the game. Although Carlo Ancelotti may look to rest one or two of his big stars, we think that he will want this group stage done and dusted as soon as possible.
