Big match

Manchester City, largely due to their seeding in The Champions League, have had some shockingly difficult groups to contend with in the competition over the last few years.

And, when they have faced the European big boys, they have at times been badly exposed – while Manchester City are really starting to master The Premier League they are still asked questions in Europe which they have struggled to answer.

But those tough encounters over the last few years can only help in the long term. There is no doubt in our minds that the club is going to be successful in Europe before long. City certainly have the requisite quality and with experience brings success.

Manchester City have another hard group this year but you can be sure that Bayern Munich, Roma and CSKA will be gutted to be drawn against such a top team from the lower seeds.

After their entertaining draw with Arsenal at the weekend we think that they will set up in a very similar way for this year’s baptism of fire in The Champions League.

We wonder when Eliaquim Managala will be fit to take his place alongside Vincent Kompany. Perhaps a debut against Bayern Munich would be a little unfair on the lad. A terrible performance could set him back months. So expect Demichelis to start again.

Stevan Jovetic is injured and Zabaleta suspended. But Bayern’s injury concerns are worse. Ribery is out and Robben is doubtful. Holger Badstuber, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Thiago Alcantara, Rafinha and Javi Martinez are also out, so this represents a real opportunity for City – particularly if they start well.

Here is how we think that they will line up. Manchester City fans: Would you rather play with one or two up top tonight?
