Really?

We find this one difficult to believe but the media has been awash with the story about Dani Alves signing for Manchester United at the end of the season.

Widespread reports quote respected football agent Francois Gallardo as saying:

‘The player will leave Barcelona,’ said Gallardo.

‘He has signed a preliminary agreement with Manchester United.’

There is usually no smoke without fire in the transfer market and we can easily imagine Alves leaving Barcelona at the end of the season after a glittering career in Spain which included two Champions League winners medals.

But the led will be 32 and a half years young by the start of next season and he wouldn’t come cheap either.

Manchester United already have a bucaneering, agressive and attacking right full back in Rafael da Silva. Manchester United may need some more cover out there but the idea of signing Alves does seem like a bit of a stretch.

Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Manchester United fans: do you see this as a great investment or an expensive and unnecessary addition?
