Great news for Manchester United?

The Theatre Of Dreams

Offski?

Hey, don’t get us wrong. We don’t want to join in with some kind of witch hunt with regards any particular footballer.

These guys are human beings after all and the amount of criticism that some of them get must be hard to take on a human level.

But football is a ruthless industry and Manchester United are at a crucial point in their history.

The club needs to make some excellent signings this summer and also relieve themselves of some of the deadwood which has being infecting Manchester United of late.

And one of the players that simply has to leave is the Belgian giant Marouane Fellaini. In potentially worrying news for Manchester United fans, LvG actually name checked the player when speaking to Sky Sports yesterday.

‘When you look at the quality of your players – you see Rooney, Van Persie, Hernandez, Mata, Welbeck, (Marouane) Fellaini, (Ander) Herrera a lot of players can play this system.

We do hope that this doesn’t mean he’s in the plans of the Dutchman for next season. But we also believe that he’s not the sort of player that Louis van Gaal particularly likes. LvG is a technician who loves highly skillful and fast flowing football. Fellaini is possibly the walking antithesis of this style.

So while we really do wish him the best of luck, we think it’s great news for Manchester United that he is today being strongly linked with a move to Napoli. Fellaini is the symbol of a disastrous Moyes era at the club and you feel that there is an awful long way back for the player to get into the team now.

The Express reports this week:

Man Utd flop Marouane Fellaini’s secret talks with Napoli director over Old Trafford exit

MANCHESTER UNITED outcast Marouane Fellaini could be heading for the Old Trafford exit after holding talks with Napoli chief Riccardo Bigon.

While Fellaini did a decent job at Everton we feel that the top level of English football is just too fast for a player who has always relied more on physical presence than his technique.

We still think that the only way Fellaini has a future at Old Trafford is if LvG can somehow convert him into a centre back. Stranger things have happened.

Manchester United fans: would you be happy to see the back of the Belgian or do you feel that his departure could be risky considering the lack of cover in the midfield right now?
