Latest: Dream target wants Manchester United transfer – report

Expensive

We have tried to avoid saying it for as long as possible. But now we are definitely moving into ‘Wesley Sneijder’ territory with regards Manchester United’s pursuit of Arturo Vidal.

Two years ago Manchester United fans clung to their computers all summer for news of a completed deal for the Dutch master, only to be left empty-handed come September. It was akin to opening a multi-layered ‘joke’ present with nothing at its core. Great joke…

Manchester United fans will of course hope that their loyalty to the media will be rewarded this summer and the latest news is potentially positive with regards Vidal. It seems, at least, that the deal is still alive.

The Metro reports today:

Arturo Vidal’s agent Fernando Felicevich is now working around the clock to get his client a transfer to Manchester United – despite Juventus insisting he will stay.

…and the same source reports on Thursday evening that the player will ask for the move:

Manchester United target Arturo Vidal is reportedly set to tell Juventus that he wants to move to the Premier League club this summer.

And according to Chile newspaper El Mercurio, Felicevich is set to meet Juve director Giuseppe Marotta on Wednesday to inform the Serie A champions that the 27-year-old wants to join United.

Here’s what we think. Vidal wants to go to Manchester United to fill the gaping hole in the engine room. Who wouldn’t for a double your money final big contract?

Juventus are prepared to sell. We actually believe that they want to sell. But they want to squeeze absolutely everything they possibly can from the deal. And, historically, Manchester United don’t do those sorts of deals.

The question is how desperate are they for the player and how important do they see Vidal to their chances of winning the league?

We believe that if Michael Carrick hadn’t been injured then United would wait for Roma’s Kevin Strootman. But, although Darren Fletcher has had an excellent pre-season so far, we think that Manchester United will try to get the Vidal deal done as they can’t afford to have a slow start in the league.

Manchester United fans: will the club get this one done or are they now more likely to wait for Strootman?

As we all know LvG has said he has probably too many number tens. Vidal is a box to box midfielder but he is closer to a number Ten then after that. He is strong in the tackle and he would be a great asset but he is not the player United desperately need. If anything the player United should have bought was Kroos and after than Strootman because they dictate play more than Vidal. Veratti from PSG would be the perfect signing, He dictates play has far better passing and is only 22. I’d actually take Veratti ahead of Vidal and PSG are willing to listen to offers for him!.

WHAT are you talking about dude!!? Vidal is NOT a number 10 lool! you CLEARLY do not watch Serie A Vidal plays more of a number 8 if anything he bombs forward if the team allows him too, but lets not forget Roy Keane himself wasn’t shy of scoring a few goals himself, he is a box to box player because he can help in attack but hes defensive work rate is superb, you must be insane if you would take Veratti over Vidal who IS and has been the best box to box player in the world for the past 2 years!
