Liverpool fans were optimistic that Luis Luis Suarez wouldn’t be too badly missed, particularly with the reinforcements that Liverpool made over the summer.

And let us not forget that it did take The Reds a good few months to really hit top form last season and illustrate the sort of bewitching beast that they could become. In the first few months of last season they were cagey and defensive.

But Suarez was always going to be missed. He turned potential defeats into draws and draws into victories with some ridiculous goals and superhuman performances.

Reports today suggest that Liverpool are still looking to improve their firepower despite signing Mario Balotelli just before the end of the window.

The Guardian today implies that Liverpool will try to snare Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli.

Meanwhile on Merseyside, Brendan Rodgers is counting out £31m from the club change jar in the hope that it will be enough to convince Napoli to part with Gonzalo Higuaín, who has yet to score in five Serie A appearances this season.

Higuain, who only moved to Naples a year ago for £34.5m, has been constantly linked to a move since he joined the Italian outfit and we think that he is one of those players who would be absolutely perfect for The Premier League.

He not only has superb finishing ability and good pace but is also a very powerful footballer who likes to get stuck in – he’s certainly no shrinking violet.

He is though very much a number nine. If he did join Liverpool Daniel Sturridge may have to move wider on occasion – the Englishman is more adaptable than Higuain in this sense.

But it would be a lovely problem to have. A squad which could call on Higuain, Balotelli, Sturridge, Sterling and Lambert would surely be challenging on all fronts.

Let’s have a look at the lad in action. Liverpool fans: do you think that Brendan Rodgers is still looking for another striker? Or does the midfield need more attention in the shorter term?
