Manchester United have always been about skill over muscle. Of course the club has had its fair share of warriors and without them Manchester United wouldn’t have had anywhere near the success they’ve enjoyed.

But even the tough guys grace Manchester United have been skillful footballers. Roy Keane had super vision and passing ability. Paul Ince was a brute but could cut through a defence with his powerful forward runs with the ball. So too Bryan Robson who could out drink and out fight the best of them. But he could still score a thirty yard screamer or get involved in some sublime tiki-taka footy on the edge of the opposition area.

So quite what David Moyes was thinking when he bought Marouane Fellaini to the club is utterly beyond us. Maybe there simply wasn’t enough thinking behind the move. Because Felliani patently isn’t technically good enough to play in successful United midfield.

Fans of the player may point to his swivel and turn in the centre circle, in his Everton days, which looked a bit Cruyff-esque.

But this was just a fortuitous moment in a sea of elbows, chins and chests which Fellaini used to grapple his way to a few goals whilst with The Toffees.

Ask fans of his old club if they would take him back now and we are sure that the majority would decline the offer.

So, it’s music to the puritan’s ears to hear the eccentric Napoli chairman confirming their interest in the player.

The Guardian reports;

Napoli confirm interest in Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini
• Chairman says Fellaini’s hair will complement Gökhan Inler’s
• ‘Together they have a hairstyle like a lion’s mane’

“Fellaini is one of the names on the table, but not the only one,” the Napoli president told the Italian radio station Kiss Kiss when asked about potential transfers for the upcoming season.

Hopefully noone will mention to the chairman that Fellaini has actually chopped his hair off since The World Cup!

Manchester United fans: do you want to get rid ASAP?
