Everton have started the season in decent fashion but it’s difficult to say, at this stage, whether they have improved since the last campaign. And one departed player who represented Everton with honours last season could be back on the radar according to latest reports.

The Guardian reports:

Another winger possibly returning to the north-west after a spell back in Spain is Gerard Deulofeu. Of course, the Barcelona wideman isn’t quite as beloved at Everton as Ronaldo is at United, but they like him a fair bit there, so it’s presumably smashing news that Delofeu is hankerin’ after the sights, sounds and smells of Goodison Park

….he isn’t playing much on loan at Sevilla, a fact that has right irked Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, who let the Andalusian side borrow his boy for the season on condition they let him play.

They aren’t letting him play, with him spending just 17 minutes on the pitch so far this season.

Everton were persistently rumoured to be keen to take the lad back to Goodison this summer after his initial loan spell. We then heard that new Barca boss Luis Enrique was so impressed that Deulofeu would see some game time at The Camp Nou this season. The next thing we knew he had been loaned out again.

There are so many variables that dictate to the success of a player at a certain club. But the mixture of tactics, coaching and style of play at Everton seemed to suit Deulofeu and he thrived in his loan spell. At times his dribbles were bewitching.

We think that Deulofeu would be an excellent addition to the side for the second half of the season, to add competition in the wide areas. He can also do a job through the middle if required.

Let’s remind ourselves of some of his better moments. Everton fans: Would you like to see him back and would he still get a good run in the side?
