Everton linked with an absolute gem

Gem Alert

Now here is one to get excited about. Even though Roberto Martinez did get kicked out of The World Cup for misdemeanours relating to his entry pass, you would imagine that he spotted some real gems out in Brazil. Footballers I mean of course!

One such talent has been linked to Everton in a broadsheet today. The Guardian says:

Roberto Martínez has gathered his closest confidantes in a huddle to discuss a possible bid for Yacine Brahimi, who was last seen being a nifty presence in the heart of the Algeria midfield at the World Cup.

The 24 year old attacking midfielder was born in Paris, France. He played at every youth level for the French but then defected to the Algerian national team for his senior debut in 2013 – just in time for The World Cup.

Once in Brazil he gave some brilliant performances for a surprisingly good Algerian side. He scored the fourth for Algeria in the victory over South Korea.

He’s a technically brilliant and attack-minded midfielder who, we think, would cause all sorts of problems in The Premier League.

Everton need some more creativity in their side, having lost Gerard Deulofeu, and this guy could be a superb replacement.

Let’s have a look at the lad in action. Everton fans: does this guy boil your potatoes or would you rather look at more celebrated internationals?

This is exactly the lad we need. Chelsea can keep Atsu and develop him themselves. I’d take Brahimi over him anyday of the week. Last season we were solid at the back and carried a goal threat, but, we looked lost for creativity every now and again.

Bony, Brahimi and Barry as signings with Oviedo, Kone and Gibson coming back from injury and McAleny (perhaps Garbutt and Ledson too) coming through from the juniors and we’re in good shape for the season.
