Worth a punt

We won’t bore you once more with our now regular rants about how Arsenal’s transfer kitty has been serially misused over the last decade. We have done that one to death.

But it continues to confound us that Arsenal are linked with so many creators.

One name that has reared its head on a persistent basis in relation to Arsenal is Barcelona’s Pedro.

He’s been on the periphery at Barca for years and The Guardian once again suggest that Arsenal want to make a move for the player.

The 27 year old actually had a great scoring record for Barcelona and has been a really important squad member for them. He’s banged in 88 goals in 276 games for the Catalan masters from various positions in the front line.

He’s also scored 15 times in 46 caps for Spain – no mean feat.

After years in a supporting role he may finally want to be the star turn and Arsenal could use him.

They do already have a wealth of wide men and similar creative types of course. But Pedro can play up top and at number 10 as well as on the flanks. His delivery is excellent and he’s an unselfish player who rarely gives the ball away.

Arsenal need to prioritise other signings but we would be tempted to have a punt on this lad as he’s simply a top player.

Let’s take a look at him in action. Arsenal fans: a luxury you don’t need or a canny addition to the side?
