Arsenal: The Next Tony Adams?

Oh how we miss those days when Arsenal had real characters in their defence. The sort of people who you might expect to kill innocents, if necessary, for the three points.

Adams and Keown were the sorts of players who ran tings from the defence and had that ‘none shall pass’ look etched onto their faces 24/7. They probably wore their Arsenal shirts to bed.

Nostalgia aside, Arsenal could really use another dominator at the back and they must be aware of this. Accordingly they have reportedly been searching for long-term defensive reinforcements. The Guardian suggests today that:

Arsenal and Manchester City are both having a look at Leicester City’s young centre-back, Liam Moore.

He’s only 21 but already looks like a 6ft tall piece of granite. He can play right or centre, like the brilliant young Mr. Chambers, but looks like he’s got more of the grit to Chambers’s guile – and what a combination that could turn out to be in future years.

Moore has also been noticed by the England coaching staff who have seen fit to cap him 11 times in the U21s. He’s even scored a goal in that time.

We really like the look of him and perhaps you will too. Let’s see the lad in action. Arsenal fans: potatoes sufficiently boiled?
