Arsene Wenger managed to accommodate both Danny Welbeck and Alexandre Lacazette in his starting line-up for the Community Shield against Chelsea.
The latter has to be the Gunners’ go-to striker following his club record move from Lyon earlier this summer, which begs the question of what will happen to the likes of Welbeck and Olivier Giroud.
The Mirror report that Everton are keeping a close eye on both, and while Giroud appears to be the Toffees’ first choice, they will turn their attentions to Welbeck if they can’t broker a deal for the French international.
Overall, Ronald Koeman has had a very impressive summer, but he is yet to find a replacement for Romelu Lukaku.
The 24-year-old’s move to Manchester United has left Koeman with £75million to spend, though it’s claimed Welbeck would cost more like £30m because of his persistent injury problems.
Arsenal may be waiting to see what happens with Alexis Sanchez, as if the forward leaves the Emirates, they may be reluctant to let another goalscorer go in the same summer.
