New Deal?

Ok this is pure speculation at the moment. But we always say that there is seldom smoke without fire and Manchester United fans will hope that this theory proves to be true.

A few sources on Twitter have had a nibble at this one. It started late Tuesday evening when an Italian news outlet, Sportmediaset, announced on its Twitter page:

Manchester United has renewed the contract of De Gea until 2020

What is for sure is that Manchester United will want to keep the player. Even if, by some strange circumstance, they don’t want to keep him, it still makes complete sense to give him a new contract in order to protect his sell on value. Let us not forget that this is one of the most valuable assets at the club.

It’s strange that Manchester United have let his contract get to the last 18 months but it would be absolutely crazy to let it run right down, whatever his future holds.

So we would have to say that this one has all the makings of a substantial story over the next few days.

Unless Manchester United are planning to sell De Gea in this window then we have to assume that a new contract will be signed soon. Apart form anything De Gea seems completely at home at Manchester United. He is in the midst of a really exciting project and he has many Spanish speakers around him in Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, Marcos Rojo, Angel di Maria, Radamel Falcao and Victor Valdes.

Let’s see De Gea at his best. Manchester United fans: confident that he will put his signature to a new deal?
