It seems that the writing is on the wall with this one. Alan Pardew has been quoted as making a thinly veiled statement about his desire to reacquaint Andy Carroll with Newcastle United. He said:

“I think he would want to come back to Newcastle in the future and I hope he does come back to his home town,” said Pardew.

“He has got that love here. As for me, I really enjoyed working with Andy. I think he’s a terrific player. I know we get linked with him every two weeks, which is always going to happen whether it’s me here, or another manager.

“I’m not going to hide from the fact that I like him. I think he’s a good player. I’m not sure that it’s something that’s imminent for us in this January window because he looks fairly happy to me at West Ham.

There is little no point in being mad with him for leaving Newcastle in the first place. Sure it hurt initially. But Carroll did a marvellous job in his last year or so at the club (11 goals in his last 20 matches in The Premier League) and he made the club an absolute mint when they sold him to Liverpool.

Even those who think they don’t want him back at Newcastle will surely soon relent when he is back in the jersey. Because he offers the sort of power and precision at number nine that Newcastle don’t have right now. His dominating style can complement the mobility around him perfectly and he just seems right for the club.

Carroll hasn’t really performed since he left Newcastle – injuries have of course played a big part – but we feel that he will quickly click if and when he returns. We believe that Carroll is supposed to play for Newcastle.

Let’s remind ourselves of his quality. Newcastle fans: happy to take him back or would he no longer suit the style of the team?

Yes big Andy could be home for Xmas, but I doubt he will be signing for the Toon unless he is willing to write of several millions in the process as NUFC will not match his £85K per week wages and he has three years left on the contract.
The Chuckle brothers at West Ham would secretly love to be rid of Andy but if he does move it will need all three parties to agree to take the expensive pill.
