Manchester United Injury Crisis – Louis to pick Ryan Giggs?

As this injury crisis at Manchester United deepens by the day it is surely only a matter of time before someone breaks the seal on the old Giggs to Return notion. Oh, look, now it’s broken….

In January 2012 Paul Scholes put a smile on every United fan’s face by reversing his decision to retire – to unhang his boots. And how we would love Ryan Giggs to get stuck in for the odd 20 minute cameo now to steady the ship or offer another option on the left flank in times of desperation. We never quite understood the point of him officially retiring anyway.

It may sound like the most outlandish thing you have heard in many a year – Giggs returning to the fold in Manchester United’s hour of need.

But the current injury plight at Manchester United is equally hard to believe. United brought three left-footed defenders to the club in the summer, at great expense. All three are of course currently crocked – two seriously. Luke Shaw might make the game against Arsenal but United’s left side is pretty much threadbare right now.

What price a run out for the old legend if the problems continue? He would certainly be a popular choice as emergency left-back and he’s probably still fit as a fiddle despite his age. Giggs takes an active part in Manchester United training every day and we bet that he could still give a decent half with a couple of weeks of training under the bonnet.

There are still 6 more weeks to go until the window opens but Giggs is already at the club and wouldn’t cost a penny. Surely there could be worse ideas than bringing Giggsy back, a la Scholes in 2012, and giving him a run out in times of emergency?
