Problem

Not many players leave Real Madrid of their own free will. Footballers who get the chance to turn out in the famous white shirt usually see any move as a step downwards on the football ladder.

But recent reports may give Real Madrid fans some cause for concern about one of their rising stars.

Reports in England suggest that:

Chelsea are poised to anger Real Madrid by signing their talented young midfielder Alvaro Medran in the January transfer window.

Medran, 20, is one of best talents in Spanish football at present and he has been promoted to the Madrid first-team in recent weeks by manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The 20 year old, who stands at just over 5ft 9in, has indeed been something of a revolution this season having forced his way into the team twice despite intense competition for places at a club enjoying a golden era.

The slick midfielder has been likened to Luka Modric for his ability with the ball. But he could become more of an attacking player as his eye for goal looks superior to that of the Croatian master – Medran has scored 13 goals in 47 games for Real Madrid C and 7 in 21 for the B side.

In truth we can’t imagine Real Madrid letting this kid go without a fight. But we said the same about Alvaro Morata, who left in the summer for more regular football. There may come a time when Medran looks for more opportunities and with Modric, Kroos, Khedira and Isco ahead of him in the pecking order he may find his way to the team blocked for a long time yet.

Let’s see the little magician in action. Real Madrid fans: is this one that you want to hold on to?
