World Class transfer now inevitable? Boss admits Chelsea’s object of desire could be on his way out of Spain

Sensational player

Diego Simeone’s words this week are arguably tantamount to a waving of the white flag with regards his star player.

He knows full well about the class system in football – indeed he’s been fighting the odds all season with his wonderful Athletico Madrid side. But he said of star striker Diego Costa:

‘It depends on him and what he believes is best for his future. I will support any decision,’ the Argentinian told AS.

‘It is normal that Chelsea are interested in him. They have good economic potential. (Samuel) Eto’o is getting older and Diego Costa can do his work, but right now he’s ours.’

With a fraction of the budget of Barcelona and Real Madrid Simeone has masterminded a sensational tilt at The Champions League and La Liga titles.

We really hope that they do win La Liga. But when they come up against Chelsea in the semi finals Blues fans will get a great chance to see Diego Costa close and personal.

For our money he’s almost a carbon copy of legendary Chelsea striker Didier Drogba. He is all about power, presence and precision.

Like Drogba, while Costa is no slouch, his game isn’t built on groundspeed.

But he more than makes up for it with his physicality and unerring accuracy in front of goal.

He has scored almost as many goals as he has played games this season and his stock has risen hugely over the last 12 months. He looks like he’ll be a big star at the forthcoming World Cup. So Chelsea would be best to do the business early.

The difference between him and some of the failed big-name strikers that have come in to Chelsea over the last few years is perhaps his personality. He’s got a big one and he won’t be daunted by the opportunity of doing the business in The Premier League.

He seems like the perfect fit for Chelsea and we now think that it’s inevitable he will join the club in the summer.

Let’s have another look at him in action.
