Real Madrid

World Class sign of things to come for Real Madrid

Real vs Atletico

Sensational

Although it’s only a few weeks since Real Madrid was a club in turmoil after some poor results, that seems like a distant memory already. Such has been the quality of Real’s play over the last month, spearheaded of course by the magnificent Cristiano Ronaldo, that it’s hard to imagine this side ever struggling.

One of the reasons for the improvement in performance level is the continued assimilation of the new boys. Real Madrid have had to deal with the losses of regular starters like Xabi Alonso and Angel di Maria. There has also been a settling in period for Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez.

The latter suffered some criticism at the start of his Real Madrid carter but his improvement has been reflected in a Madrid side that is now pulling in the same direction. Most of us still feel, however, that the best of Rodriguez is still to come.

He’s been decent but functional. We have yet to see the sort of flair that lit up The World Cup and the French league last term.

Perhaps in a portent of things to come Rodriguez showed a sublime, Di Maria-esque, piece of skill while on international duty for Colombia.

He may not yet have the confidence to perform moves like the Rabona for Real Madrid but he was at his free-flowing best for his national side as he executed the high risk technique that can look amazing but also backfire badly.

Let’s see him performing the trick. Real Madrid fans: how close to peak form is Rodriguez right now?
