Will Swansea finally sign this absolute gem?

Swansea City are in a perilous position at the moment. After having such a dreamy season last time out they inexplicably sacked Michael Laudrup and now things seem much less rosy.

Now this season looks as if it could go either way with Gary Monk in charge. Just 3 points off the drop zone they need wins fast.

For us it’s yet another example of trigger-happy chairman firing their managers too soon. Unless something went on behind the scenes at Swansea, that we aren’t aware of, then it seems like a decision which could come back to haunt them.

Swansea need to get off to a better start next season, providing they are in the Premier League, and rumours rumble on which suggest they might be looking to sign a high profile striker.

Talksport suggested that Swansea were in for Fabio Quagliarella in the winter window when they said:

Swansea City and Southampton are preparing for a battle in the race to sign Juventus forward Fabio Quagliarella, according to reports in Italy.

..and TMW, which is associated with German daily BILD, reckons a deal is still on.

According to latest rumours collected in exclusive by TMW, former Italian international forward Fabio Quagliarella (31), set to leave Juventus on a full basis after 4 seasons

Former Napoli and Udinese player has been surveyed by several clubs from all around Europe, among which West Ham, Southampton, Norwich City, Aston Villa, Swansea City, Shakhtar Donetsk, CSKA Moscow, Wolfsburg, Valencia and Olympique Marseille.

This guy was hyped as one of the best players of his generation when he was coming through the ranks in Italy. He hasn’t quite remained on that trajectory but he’s still a quality forward who will score goals wherever he plays.

As you can see there are a long list of clubs who may be interested but if Swansea stay in the division they should pull out all the stops to sign a player who would undoubtedly add quality and nous to the squad.

Let’s see the lad in action. Swansea fans – no brainer or too similar to Michu?
