West Ham in for top international – report

Many to most believe that the biggest problem for West Ham this season is their inability to score goals. With Andy Carroll absent for a large chunk of the campaign they have really struggled to get on the scoresheet.

Nevertheless you wouldn’t label West Ham as one of the teams most likely to go down at the end of the season. They look pretty solid, if unspectacular, and Sam Allardyce is doing an excellent job there.

He will of course be on the lookout for strikers in the winter window. But a team like West Ham will look to improve whenever quality is available – regardless of a player’s position. If a really good player comes along then West Ham would surely look to snap him up.

One such player is being linked to West Ham today. Everton defender Jonny Heitinga has not been seeing much game time since Roberto MartĂnez joined the club and The Toffees’ boss suggested earlier in the week that the player might be available for transfer.

Martinez said:

“Johnny is a top footballer and we can understand if he doesn’t play many minutes we will try to see if we can help him in January.

The Guardian says of the potential move:

Sam Allardyce will attempt to make himself feel better after West Ham’s defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace last night, by buying himself Everton defender Johnny Heitinga for Christmas.

The Dutchamn has represented his country 87 times in a sparkling career and would surely improve the West Ham defence. At the age of just 30 he would represent an absolute bargain for The Hammers. Let’s see him in action.
