Transfer Spree: Tottenham move for new duo – report

Potential

Can we call it a spree? Ben Davies and Michel Vorm have come in but we feel that this is just the start of Tottenham’s summer transfer activity.

They still need a midfielder and at least one more striker. To that end Jay Rodriguez and Morgan Schneiderlin look increasingly like they will be Tottenham players come September. We also think that Tottenham will go back to Swansea for Wilfried Bony.

But reports today suggest that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is still concentrating on a defence which, in truth, didn’t look top class last season, save for Lloris.

The Metro reckons that another defender deal is nigh:

Tottenham set to sign ‘new John Terry’ Eric Dier in £4million transfer

In that case, lock up your wives! Seriously though if the player goes on to become anything like as solid as Terry then Tottenham will have a gem on their hands.

Dier had a breakthrough season at Sporting Lisbon last year where he made 15 appearances and showed genuine promise. He moved to Portugal with his family in 2004 and joined up with Sporting shortly after.

He’s played five times for the England under 21’s and marries mobility with real presence in the penalty area.

We would be a tad surprised if, at 20 years of age, he went straight into the first 11 at Tottenham. But his future does look bright and this could prove to be an absolute bargain.

In other news Tottenham are also said to be interested in another defender. The Metro reports:

Tottenham are believed to be targeting a move for Villarreal’s Mateo Musacchio, in a deal which reportedly would free up Jan Vertonghen to join Barcelona.

Spanish newspaper AS are reporting Tottenham’s interest in the 23-year-old, as boss Mauricio Pochettino looks to bolster his back-line.

Let’s take a look at Dier in action. Tottenham fans: does this guy boil your potatoes?

Be nice if you did your own accurate reporting. The Metro has never been a source we would discuss anything with .

If you had been quoting any other paper other than the Beano, sorry the metro it might be a serious story but the metro has never ever been first to a transfer scoop and 99.999% of their stories with regards to transfers are either copied or complete poppycock.
