Tottenham – midfielder deal imminent

It’s been coming for over a year and, finally, the Tottenham fans can begin to relieve themselves of the emotional burden associated with Luka Modric. Real Madrid are reportedly close to concluding a deal for the Croatian for £26m plus add ons.

An excellent player of course but, as the old adage goes, there is little point keeping a player who wants to leave – no matter how good.

And, indeed, Modric has been very good at Tottenham. More of a facilitator than a goal scorer, Modric is the sort of player that immeasurably improves teams without you necessarily noticing. He quietly keeps his clubs ticking with intelligent, precise and quick passing and vision. In a nutshell, Modric makes things happen.

But it’s not all doom and gloom. Tottenham have more excellent midfielders than most in Sandro, Van Der Vaart, Bale, Sigurdsson, Parker, Lennon et al. Furthermore, they will undoubtedly use at least some of the Modric money to strengthen again before the window closes.

Luka Modric has left Tottenham fans with a bitter taste in their mouths. But at least now they can move on and concentrate on a squad of players who really want to wear the magical shirt.

so the modric saga is over.maybe.kranjicar and the croatian manager have come out with modrics conversatian although neither was there.modric surely has a agent.if modric told his agent of levys alleged promise.then why didnt the agent get the promise in writing?they have blackened levis name without a shred of proof.we can then talk of modric signing a new extended contract and a increase in money.this he didnt honour.sooner he goes the better.
