Tottenham ‘keen’ on playmaker – report
After hitting glass ceilings for time immemorial Tottenham look as if they might actually be actual contenders for serious honours this season.
Consistency is the key. It seems like the most painfully obvious thing to state but Tottenham have so often won big and then lost meekly the following week. If they can defeat the smaller sides as a matter of course and take some points off the big boys we may be looking at a title contender come January, March, even May.
But the status quo in football is such that clubs need to invest constantly. Tottenham may have a team that can compete now but in January Chelsea or Manchester United may spend another £60m – then Totters could find themselves trailing the elite once more.
So Tottenham fans will hope that AVB keeps spending money on the right players. The Daily Mail today quotes Brazil international Pato as saying that he was close to joining Tottenham in the summer.
‘Tottenham had called Corinthians to ask for my transfer. I sat at the table with the club and my agent and I decided I wanted to stay.’
They also suggest that the club, along with Arsenal, could reignite their interest in a player who has somewhat fallen by the wayside after exploding onto the scene as a teenager. Injuries have taken their toll but Pato still looks like a crafty, precise and two-footed footballer. Tottenham and Arsenal fans, does Pato boil your potatoes?
