Tottenham in for €25.1m superstar striker – report

Tottenham seem to be in a transitional period in terms of their forward line.

With Jermaine Defoe leaving the club, Emmanuel Adebayor reaching veteran status and Roberto Soldado not doing the business as yet, Tottenham fans will be desperate for a couple of new signings for the forward line over the summer.

And Tottenham have, of late, been linked with a move for City striker Alvaro Negredo.

The Guardian today reports:

Spurs are ready to battle Atlético Madrid for £20m-rated (€25.1m) Alvaro Negredo – but Atlético have a clean run on Swansea’s Michu.

Negredo started last season on fire for his club but his form tailed off to a worrying degree in the second half of the season.

Whether this is down to pure fatigue or whether Premier League defenders began to work out his game is debatable.

But, for our money, he is a perfect number nine for the English Premier League.

He’s big and strong but also has great feet and the sort of running power required to get behind opposition defences at will.

Tottenham need someone who can hold up the ball, bring others into the game and score goals and we think that Negredo would be an excellent option if they did manage to snare him. He scored 23 in 48 for City last season and also has 10 goals in 21 outings for Spain.

Let’s have a look at the lad in action. Tottenham fans: could you see the club signing Negredo or is there no chance that City will let him go?
