Tottenham given price guide for Goal Machine

Worth it

Tottenham have fair to middling attacking options in their squad right now. But, with only Harry Kane on an upward career trajectory at present, there will be much speculation about further investment over the next month.

A player who has been regularly linked to Tottenham is West Brom hot shot Said Berahino. The signing would represent something of a gamble as the player is young and hasn’t proven himself long term.

But he has taken the league by storm this season with his dynamisn and acumen in front of goal – he’s bagged 6 in 9 games already.

Any risk would be offset by the fact that one so young will always have a sell on value should things go south at Tottenham.

Anyhoo, the club has been given an indication of his perceived worth by WBA boss Alan Irvine who said on Friday:

‘It doesn’t sound a lot. I would be absolutely astonished if anyone could sign Saido from us for £15million,’ he said.

‘You look at some of the fees going around in the transfer market that’s just been, everybody seems to start at £7million.

‘But £15million doesn’t sound like a lot of money for a talented, young, English player with great potential who is playing really, really well in the Premier League at the moment and who is scoring goals. It would have to be higher than that.

You would imagine that £20m would get the deal over the line. It does seem like a lot but, as we all know, the figures are always inflated where is comes to young English talent.

Let’s have a look at the lad in action. Tottenham fans: a wise investment.

Maybe not a one season wonder, but when considering the price of Welbeck it seems this chairman only looks one way and that is beyond the fair price for a player who is performing well in a team where few others shine. It will take a lot more performances of quality to raise the price beyond £12m.
