Tottenham getting a true winner

It appears that the destination of one of Belgium’s superstars has today been clarified. While Eden Hazard continues to flirt with the cream of Europe, Jan Vertonghen is quoted as saying that he wants to move to Tottenham and that the deal is some way to being done.

He told De Telegraaf newspaper

“I trust that Ajax and Spurs can turn water into wine and sort it out soon.”

Harry Redknapp is well known for being a highly shrewd operator in the transfer market and we believe that he is pulling off another masterstroke with the Belgian defender. Long admired by soccersweep, Vertonghen is not only excellent on the defensive side but he also offers so much going forward. Much more than most defenders.

He made a huge impact in the Europa League tie against Manchester United earlier in the spring and this alerted many top European clubs as to his quality. He is very gifted on the ball for a defender and has an excellent range of pinpoint passing. He could turn out to be an even greater find than Rafa Van Der Vaart.

If Tottenham do get this left-footed 25 year old they will not look back. He will soon cement his place in the first team and become another gem of a player for Harry.

I really hope we can seal a deal for him as soon as possible and begin looking elsewhere for other good deals. With any luck, he’s up for playing at left back in order to replace Assou-Ekotto, meaning that our back four next season could be Walker, Kaboul, Caulker and Jan Vertonghen.
Move Corluka and Bassong on, and bring have Naughton, Rose, King and Gallas for cover.

Forget Gallas he’s out. You forgot Dawson surely he’s ok as backup. Verthongen is a central defender and where we need him the most. Verthongen and Kabouum in central defense. Walker and Ekotto (or Baines) at the back. Caulker, King, Naughton, Dawson and a left back for cover

Great call Danespur…Verthongen is a CB and with him and Kabs in there I have no doubt we’ll be up for the title challenge next season!
I love BAE but id be more worried if Walker or Kabs wanted to leave…we can at least replace BAE with a decent LB like Baines or even Rose (who isnt that much worse and about 5 years younger than Benny).
Would love to see Daws and Gallas as back up for the CBs as very sadly I can see King retiring shortly…. :0(
