Tottenham – double deal moves closer

Exciting times indeed for Tottenham Hotspur. After discovering yesterday that that the prodigious Brazil striker Leandro Damião is in talks with the club about a move to White Hart Lane, another Brazilian is now being linked to the team.

Tottenham believe that a deal for Damião, who is having a blinding, free scoring Olympics, is now close . Whether he is seen as a supplement or alternative to Emmanuel Adebayor remains to be seen but, at 23, he looks like he would interest most top teams and his signing would be a major coup for Tottenham.

Today, reports suggest that Internazionale goalkeeper Julio Cesar is also a serious contender for a Tottenham place next season. Andre Villas Boas is keen to strengthen his options between the sticks and the 32 year old veteran has apparently been in talks with the club. A player of vast experience, Cesar has won most of the game’s top prizes and represents a similarly safe pair of mits to current super stopper and quadragenarian Brad Friedel. Unless Spurs can find a way to freeze Friedel between games then they will have to address their goalkeeping situation at some stage and Cesar looks like a top replacement.

If it comes true this could be the best Spurs double since 1961.

Why are we wasting time and money looking for goalkeepers we have one of the best and he ain’t goin to drop dead this year or next and we got cudachini we need strikers worry about keepers next year in jan sort the fucking problem we have up front now not after the start of the season.

Sort the swearing but I agree 100%. We have some great keepers and Gomez (LOL) – we need strikers or scoring midfielders.. However don’t believe the hype.. AVB has done nothing except slag Chelski – how many of you overly optimistic types will still be optimistic when we lose three games on the trot. It will happen as AVB ‘builds a team’ for three years. What the hell is wrong with the team Harry built? A couple of additions thats all.. If I was ‘arry I would sit in retirement for a few months because in January you might well be called back to THFC!!!!!!!!!

Man City talk is nothing but the agent stunt. man City already has 6 strikers and trying to get rid of Adebayor and one more currently with no joy, simply falling on to their own sword. I am more worried about Juventus or may be Man utd than Man City with Damiao..Cesar on the other hand needs a new challenge, he has stayed at Inter too long and gone a little stale. He will relish at Spurs even though i personally dont like ball punching continental keepers, i prefer Cesar to Lloris who is just a younger version of Gomes.

    UTTER RUBBISH
I can only remember ONE double signing of any significance, and that was down to the much underrated and exceptionally canny Keith Burkinshaw!
    IT SIMPLY WILL NOT HAPPEN

Is Julio Cesar an ACTUAL improvement in the goalie position? Yes, Friedel is 41-42, and Cudicini is 38, but Julio Cesar is 32, and hasn’t looked as good as his name dictates. There is a reason why Inter are him to go. They’re doing it now, because his contract runs until 2014, and he’ll get more value now, rather than next year when he only has the year remaining.

    I could be wrong.

I’d rather have Lloris than Cesar, younger and more potential, but I’m buzzing about Damiao!

Where’s the 60 million Euros for Damiao coming from? And how can his real value more than double after one match anyway?
