Tottenham did, what now seems like, some dodgy business in the transfer market last summer. No doubt rushed into reinforcing the team, after the sale of such a big star in Gareth Bale, Tottenham splurged on signings – the most expensive of which were Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela. Unfortunately it appears as if the most costly signings are turning out to be the biggest flops.

Soldado has played 27 times for Tottenham this season and has failed to score in no less than 20 of those appearances. For a player who cost £27 million it’s simply not good enough. An even bigger anomaly has been Erik Lamela. He looked like the muts nuts when he came from Italy last summer – a blur of skill and movement.

But there must be a major flaw in his game as both of his Tottenham managers have largely overlooked him for a place in the team.

The Daily Mirror today reports that Tottenham will attempt a deal with Inter in the summer which will involve Lamela and Mario Balotelli.

Despite scoring for fun in Serie A Balotelli is rumoured to be unsettled (again) and may move back to England in the summer. They say:

Tottenham have offered £30million misfit Erik Lamela in a swap deal with Mario Balotelli, according to Italian sports daily Tuttosport.

Spurs’ record signing has started only three Premier League games and scored one Europa League goal since joining from Roma last summer.

Though the Italian striker is clearly a very talented footballer it would take a brave manager to take him on board in The Premier league after his time at Manchester City. He’s got so much natural ability but seems, still, to be a bit of a ticking time bomb ready to explode at any moment.

We can imagine him starting well enough at Tottenham but it would only take take a tiny tiff with a team mate, for example, for everything to go south very quickly.

Let’s see the man in action. Tottenham fans. Any substance to the tabloid tale?

I have always believed in giving an overseas player one year to settle into the EPL (at all and any club).
Buying seven players doesn’t mean you divide that year by seven…it means you give seven players one year each.

Way too early to be writing any of these players off…especially given the club went through a change of manager mid-season.

Yeah, mooted by an arsehole writing for a very poor excuse of a newspaper, the mirror. The clown should be writing story lines for Roy of the Rovers or the Beno. You can make this shit up any better.
