The most left-footed Manchester United team ever?

LvG loves lefties

Louis van Gaal is a genius. In one window he has breathed new life into the Manchester United squad. He’s brought the raw pace of Shaw, Rojo, Di Maria and Falcao – pace that was sorely lacking at United – He’s got the football brains of Blind and Herrera. And he’s also added a load of left-footedness to the side.

Since Ryan Giggs moved inside Manchester United have had a paucity of quality natural left footers for that flank. In one summer LvG has bought in 4 players who could do a job there!

Marcos Rojo is essentially a defender but can play wing back or even on the wing. Luke Shaw is going to be a top wing back and may even end up further forward, a la Bale. Daley Blind is also a natural left footer, as is Angel di Maria.

When you add RvP, Mata and Anderson (future pending) to the mix, Manchester United now have a decidedly left-footed side. You certainly couldn’t say that Manchester United are weak down that flank any more.

When you consider that Radamel Falcao is almost as good on his left as his right – and don’t underestimate the quality and potential of Tyler Blackett – Manchester United may well have their most left-footed team ever.

What a window.
