Superb Arsenal and Liverpool target ‘to quit’ current club

Arsenal and Liverpool are clearly still works in progress. While it could be argued that Liverpool have played the most convincing football of the season, Arsenal wouldn’t be far behind, based on their most flowing displays.

The problem with Arsenal is that they do very well up until the really crunch moments before failing at the final hurdle. Bayern Munich provided the most recent portent of that malaise. Liverpool could prove themselves stiffer the in the face of top opposition – starting today at Manchester United – but they still have a squad that is painfully thin compared to the other big boys. Liverpool have been lucky with injuries and are probably grateful that they haven’t had Europe to occupy their minds and energies this season.

So both will want to strengthen in the summer. Liverpool and Arsenal have oft been linked, in the past, to PSG creator Jeremy Menez.

Menez, who joined PSG from Roma in 2011 had a super start to his career in France but has become increasingly marginalised as the mega rich Paris outfit has spent more on stellar talents. Menez has said that he may well leave the club in the summer after just a generous handful of appearances this term. The Metro says:

Arsenal and Liverpool target Jeremy Menez to quit Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season

‘We talked about an extension, but it was not sorted out,’ said the Frenchman.

‘I have three months remaining on my contract at PSG, we will see what will happen at the end of the season.’

This guy would be a credit to most sides. He is a really adaptable player who can perform equally well on the wings, in midfield or up front – perhaps this flexibility has been his downfall. Nevertheless, at 26, he’s still to reach his pomp and we think that someone will be getting a real bargain this summer in a player capped 24 times by France. We think that both Arsenal and Liverpool could use him well, though perhaps Liverpool’s need for midfielders is arguably greater.

Let’s have a look at him in action.
