Should Manchester United sack Moyes?

David Moyes

How long will United give Moyes before they realise it’s just not working?

It’s achingly obvious, after three months of the season, that David Moyes isn’t progressing Manchester United. Compared to all the young, exciting coaches now managing in The Premier League Manchester United look as if they have a dinosaur at the helm – a decent guy but a manager from the old school without any real direction or conviction about what he is doing. And they are about to be left behind.

Manchester United fans will continue to sing their song about Moyes in the desperate hope that he can turn things around. But should Moyes be allowed to further worsen Manchester United’s plight by spending a huge part of the transfer kitty in January? Based on what you have seen so far, do you trust him with the cash?

The signing of Fellaini has been a nightmare. Moyes spent £30m on a player who would have been dominant ten years ago when technique was less of a priority. In the modern game, height and durability aren’t the be all and end all in midfield. The Premier League is now littered with midfielders who don’t give the ball away. And if you never cede possession you don’t need to be as big as an ox to get it back – simple.

Moyes had ample time to prepare his shopping list for Manchester United but ended up scrambling around for Fellaini on the last day of the window. Who is to say that he won’t buy similarly old-fashioned players again?

Some will argue that Moyes should be given time. After all Fergie got 3.5 years to stop the rot. But the obvious difference between the two is that while Fergie took charge of a bunch of party boys, who hadn’t won the league in two decades, Moyes has inherited a squad of serial winners – the current champions of England.

In terms of the current squad, it really isn’t so bad. Fergie managed to take them to the title last season, beating off the challenges of Chelsea and City. But David Moyes seems completely incapable of affecting his team from the sidelines.

The most worrying part is that he doesn’t appear to have a strategy except to simply hope for the best. Can you see a strategy in there? A style of play? Is the plan to make good players bad so that he can then make them good again?

Perhaps it’s already the time to reinstate Fergie for a while and start looking for a bright young coach with progressive ideas. Someone who gives you the impression that they have a strong strategy for the club and team.

Manchester United fans. Can you honestly see things improving under Moyes?

I think Moyes is turning Man U into a mid- table team like Everton in days of old. If he has a plan then he should see to it that the plan unfolds. How to keep possession of the ball in the middle of the park? like Scholes did! How to beat the men on the wings like Ronaldo did and how to be tenacious up front like Tevez did! Who are the players identified to fill these roles or maybe more. These are my humble thoughts only. Whatever is in the kitty should be carefully spent. the real problem is the Glazers only say there is money. will they be willing to fork out British pounds 60-80m on a top quality player cos that is what Utd stand for. highly unlikely. then rot in mid table

The Glazers will put out the money. They granted Moyes’ last minute desperation bid for Gareth Bale for 100 Million pounds. AND Spurs agreed only IF Moyes took Adebayor as well (over salaried). But Moyes backed out. Even Ozil, United bid 40N then Arsenal 42M, Moyes backed our again. For that matter, even Herrera and Baines, it was only about adding a few million, but Moyes did not dare. No Balls! Does not dare to be great, Too safe, too conservative, and that is how United is playing like, SAD! BUT Glazers will PAY AS MUCH AS NEEDED, WHY? Because United is their “golden goose”, United is a billion pound business. commercial revenues are increasing every year (thanks to Woodward), debts have gone done to about half of what it was before. United is a first class brand name marketed worldwide. BUT to REMAIN first class, United MUST be ON TOP, win important Cups, championships, and ADD superstar players to their ranks. Here is the DANGER, United is going down, which will affect revenues, salaries, etc. January will be too late. And giving Moyes is useless, unless the United mindset is in him, not the Evertonian mindset, not his conservative, safety-first style of playing. As a top news analyst said “Manchester United look as if they have a dinosaur at the helm – Moyes, a decent guy but a manager from the old school without any real direction or conviction about what he is doing”. Monry is there, but don’t give it to Moyes. He has enough games to prove himself and he has failed. And as Alex Ferguson himself said, that this is a RESULTS-DRIVEN game. NO results? Then, OUT YOU GO! You don’t have time on your side. And definitely not with United. Moyes, leave!
