Real Madrid: Proof that Ronaldo isn’t always the very best

CR7 - A beautiful freak of nature.

Tut Tut Ronnie

After such an astounding career the impossible seems to be happening. Cristiano Ronaldo may just be about to have his best season ever.

His best goal scoring tally in his unbelievable Real Madrid career was in the 2011-12 season when he bagged an astounding 60 in all competitions. But with only 11 games gone this season he’s already scored 17 times.

While many would name Barcelona’s Messi as the greatest footballer of all time, there will likely never be a more prolific goalscorer than the Real Madrid star by the time he finally hangs up his boots.

But, for once, Ronaldo is going to have to share the prize. Because next Wednesday he will be presented the award for JOINT top goalscorer in Europe for the season 2013/2014.

That’s right, Ronaldo wasn’t head and shoulders above everyone else last season. He scored 31 league goals which is the same number as new Barcelona star Luis Suarez.

Suarez had an incredible season at Liverpool and was comfortably one of the best players in Europe. But the sheer consistency of Ronaldo is what sets him apart. Suarez will have his work cut out at Barcelona to achieve similar stats on a yearly basis.

We wouldn’t put it past the Barcelona man to light up La Liga when he finally arrives. But few, if any will ever be quite as prolific as the undoubted star of Real Madrid.
