We have mentioned it quite a lot of late but Real Madrid’s only real weakness is between the sticks.
We were never the biggest fans of Pepe but he’s earned his stripes in defence and Madrid also have the wonderful Varane in reserve.
But, despite signing Navas in the summer Real Madrid are vulnerable in goal. It was always going to be difficult to replace a player of the quality of Iker Casillas. But they need to do so quickly. Because, such is the current form of the Spanish legend that his greatness is being tainted by his frequent mistakes. We want to remember Casillas at his best, not the guy who is getting embarrassed on an almost weekly basis.
There has been a lot of talk over the last week about Real Madrid making a move for the exceptional Manchester United star David de Gea.
We believe that De Gea will eventually move back to Spain. But Madrid will have one hell of a fight trying to get him off United at this point.
It may take time. But there is a superb, shorter term option and English media outlet The Express reckons that a swap could be on:
CHELSEA have stormed ahead of Arsenal in the race for Sami Khedira after it emerged that Real Madrid are looking to sign goalkeeper Petr Cech despite being linked with Manchester United’s David De Gea.
Cech is a top quality keeper. Real Madrid would be completely solid at the back once more with him in goal. And Khedira looks like a transfer waiting to happen. He wants the game time that he deserves but may not be offered with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric currently gracing the Madrid midfield.
