Points needed

If Tottenham are serious about The Europe League this season then they will be looking for a victory on Thursday against a decent Besiktas side with Champions League experience.

The draw in Belgrade was a decent result for Tottenham in their first round of fixtures but, in a tricky group, they will need to take full points at home.

After a catastrophic result against West Brom 10 days ago at The Lane the performance away to Arsenal last weekend will have lifted spirits no end. Despite enjoying just 31% of possession Spurs were exceedingly staunch in their rearguard and regularly looked as dangerous as the hosts on the counter.

The team is coming together and two of last season’s enigmas are really beginning to shine. We always liked Nacer Chadli and Erik Lamela. Some need more time to settle than others but these two can provide top quality from the wide areas as the season progresses. Chadli has the sort of frame and pace which will continue to trouble defences and his form this season has come as little surprise to us.

So we would like to see them both start in an attacking line up on Thursday. With in form Southampton to come at the weekend Mauricio Pochettino may look to rotate but it’s so early in the season that fatigue shouldn’t be a problem just yet – even in a post World Cup campaign.

Chadli took a knock at the weekend but should be fit. Apart from that Spurs will probably be without Capoue and Rose until the weekend. Kyle Walker’s return date is unspecified.

So here is the team that we would pick for the game against Besiktas on Thursday. Tottenham fans: let’s have your thoughts.

not a chance, southampton is a must win game for pocc and spurs on sunday..with our strength and depth and the manager still laying his foundations on his first team, it will be another chance to see if the fringe players can shine..being at home i think we will be alright and win the game comfortably with this team
Vorm,Naughton, chirchies, vertonghen,Davies, lennon, stambouli, dembele, townsend and kane with soldado up top
