Unbelievable talent

Chelsea’s recent transfer business has been almost unrecognisable from the majority of the Abramovich years. From the moment he arrived he look like a Englishman in Thailand with almost more money than he knew what to do with.

But the last 18 months has seen a complete change in tactics as The FFP regulations have had a massive effect on football and really changed the landscape. Chelsea, a club with a comparatively small revenue amongst the ‘big boys’, have had to be much motte canny and prudent in their approach.

Jose Mourinho did excellent business in selling David Luiz and Juan Mata for a combined 109m Euros (£86m) – without which he could not have signed Fabregas, Costa et al – and has pretty much kept the books balanced with his recent investment.

So that begs the question, would Chelsea be able to sign Raheem Sterling?

Reports this week suggest that The Blues want the young game changer in a 61m Euro (£48m) deal and Mourinho has always seemingly like having a decent core of English players in his squad.

Few would argue that Sterling would be a wonderful signing – in tandem with Hazard Chelsea could blow teams away on the counter – but with a transfer fee likely to be close to 60m Euros (£50m) who could they sell to make it happen?

The answer would surely be to streamline their massive roster of players. While most of the first team squad aren’t dispensable, Chelsea have an abundance of young stars out on loan and, if they were serious about buying Sterling, they would surely have to offload up many of those guys – perhaps up to a dozen – players like Kakuta, Torres, Moses, Marin and Romeu.

While Chelsea fans may be sad to see some of these exciting talents leave it does at least give Jose Mourinho room for manoeuvre if hew wants to sign a big name.

Let’s see Sterling in action. Chelsea fans: a goer?

It wont happen. We are always associated with every player that pops his head up just to drive up the players price. We was linked with the fat unfit Mancs lad but Jose said there was no chance we would ever sign a player that age for that sort of daft money. Now we are linked wirth both Sterling AND Barkley. So with us being so good sticking to FFP unlike some and even with us being in the black from last transfers thats a £100 mill. We paid under £60 for Fabs and Costa. The benefits would be the homegrown rule and making the average team age dead young and with us aiming to dominate the EPL for awhile they would both come in handy.
