Choices

Even though Manchester Untied’s list of injured and suspended shows little sign of abating at present The Reds still have an embarrassment of riches in certain areas.

While they may be somewhat threadbare in the more defensive areas, with Jones, Smalling, Evans, Fellaini and Carrick all nursing injuries, they still have an abundance of attacking options despite the absence of Herrera and Rooney.

With those two unavailable for the game against Everton this weekend Louis van Gaal will shuffle his pack once again. And two players in particular will hope that they are elevated to starting positions in the team as a consequence.

Louis van Gaal has always been a coach who is prepared to adapt his formation at short notice in relation to the playing staff that he has available. But he does seem pretty settled with the midfield diamond in the 4-4-2 right now. With Herrera out he might wish to change again but the availability of players like Juan Mata, Adnan Januzaj and Antonio Valencia means that he’s well equipped to continue with the same system.

Two of these three seem most likely to compensate for the loss of Rooney and the Spaniard and we think that it’s about time that Januzaj, blistering in the reserves of late, was given another chance to stake a claim in the first team.

LvG perhaps sees him as a number 10 but Januzaj can devastate in several positions and Mata should get the nod in the hole.

So could Januzaj play on the right of the midfield diamond? Or the left if Di maria plays right?

It would be a bold formation but one which may be best equipped to lay siege to the Everton goal early doors. More defensive players could shore things up later in the game.

So here’s an XI with Januzaj and Mata replacing Rooney and Herrera. Manchester United fans: Is this the strongest available team for the weekend?

Manchester United: De Gea, Shaw, Rojo, Jones, Rafa, Di Maria, Blind, Mata, Januzaj, Falcao, RvP

Would Rily Love Dis… Bt Like Deus, I’ll Suggest We Go Wt Valencia… For Defensive Reasons… Bt Can Start With Januzaj… Since Everton Are A Bit Out Of Form… Man Utd 4 – 0 Everton FT.

Januzaj is the weak link in this formation. You cannot play a team like Everton with one central midfielder. I feel its suicidal.

Perfect line up since we don’t have any option, my only fears is that the left foots are many in the team. Only Rafael, falcao, and Jones are the only right foots. How many of the left foots can pray with the right too incase of emergency. For van persie i am convince due to last weekend match wat about de other? But we shall win

i tink d formation is gud for man utd,but valencia is beta off compare to januzai. Januzai dribbles alot n he is very selfish with d ball as well.

any provided man u line-up is always the best bt problems begins in the subs being made, rem we had won the leicester match only subs to take us down 4rm behind.wid everton n injury crisis i prefer degea, rafo, jones, rojo, shaw, blind, flecture or carrick if fit, dimaria, valencia, rvp, falcao to be xi

why are people being negative n sayin valencia will help out defensively as we know defence is our weakness when if we keep them on the back foot and keep the ball better instead of predictive valencia we should get a result.UTID

though both Adnan and Mata are creative players but we cant go into a match like dis wit both cus they are both flexible,so lets instead go wit Mata and Valencia,Valencia has d strength and pace we nid,so go on lads let d winning ways continue,up Man U,in LVG we trust

Gud formation,bt i think Andreas peirara shuld start instead of valencia who is a one leg footballer.we need creativity nd dynamism is dis game,nd may valencia can make a substitute

I prefe velencia dan januzaj. Let januzaj replace di maria when is 70 min. 3 0

    Oct 2, 2014 at 1:33 pm

valencia is more defensive conscious but that shoudnt make him play ahead of our brightest N0 11, the best way to defend is to attack. Januzaj should start but i guess vangal woudnt play with neither. You will see fletcher in midfield that day. GGMU

Very strong line up; however, against Everton, Valencia should start in place of Januzaj, who should come in as a super sub at the same position in the 70th minute…
