Mercurial talent

Manchester United are famous for having great wingers down the years. And when Sir Alex Ferguson made his last signing, Wilfried Zaha, there was a huge amount expected of the player.

He looked like he had the lot – pace, power, guile and real football intelligence to boot.

He wasn’t given a chance at Manchester United and many thought that he would explode into life on loan at Cardiff City.

But Zaha wasn’t used much there either and he really disappointed during his temporary spell in Wales.

Newcastle are said to have revived their interest in the player as Alan Pardew believes Zaha could be available. The Daily Mail says:

Newcastle are reviving interest in signing Wilfried Zaha from Manchester United.

The former Crystal Palace winger had hoped to be a part of Louis van Gaal’s plans at Old Trafford, but Alan Pardew believes that he may be available this summer.

Pardew had expressed an interest in taking Zaha on loan last January, but the young Englishman moved to Cardiff City instead.

Newcastle could certainly use more pace and quality in the wide areas and we still think that Zaha could be a world-beater, given the right tutelage.

Indeed, Louis van Gaal might wish to keep the player at the club as he loves to bring through youngsters. But if Newcastle can do a deal we definitely believe that it would represent good business.

Because there is not a lot to dislike about Zaha’s game. He still doesn’t necessarily grab games by the scruff of the neck but he is only young and seems to have all the physical ingredients to be a top player.

It feels like a bit of a make or break season for the lad already and he will want to be getting game time where ever he is playing.

Let’s have a look at some of his highlights. Newcastle fans: would you be pleased to sign Zaha or is he just another unpredictable and inconsistent wide man?
